An update on this major planning issue, which requires the attention of all locals interested in preserving the current village scene and ensuring we are not sucked into the mass of Newquay without any consultation or consideration. Please note there is an Informal Site Meeting on the land in question on November 12th at 10 am. All villagers interested are invited to attend and watch proceedings as Cornwall Council’s Strategic Planning Committee view the position accompanied by the Councils Planning Officials and the Directors of Fortdown Ltd. We villagers are not allowed to have an input to the proceedings, ask questions or harangue anybody. In the circumstances I feel our best behaviour will stand us in better stead than any altercation taking place. Certainly attend and bring banners as appropriate. Please also note the actual planning application for the site will be heard before the Strategic Planning Committee in the old Restormel Council Chamber at St Austell a week later on Nov 19th at 10am. It is appreciated this is not the most friendly of time in the day for all workers, but we are keen that as many as possible get across so the committee can appreciate the depth of concern and worry, which the application has generated in the village. Already many letters of objection have been received by the Council and we are reliant on our Councillors to articulate on the day to the Committee the concerns. Thanks.
