Can you circulate this around the village especially as Christmas is fast approaching. It has been confirmed by The Royal Mail. The Trading Standards are making people aware of the following scam: A card is delivered to your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel & that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (premium rate number). Do not cal this number as this is a mail scam organising from Belize. If you do call the number you will start to hear a recorded message you will already of been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do recieve a card with these details, then please contact the Royal Mail Fraud Department on 0207 2396655 or ICSTIS (Premium rate regulator) at icstis.org.uk We cannot validate either of the numbers on this post. 0207 2396655 is said to be the Royal Mail Fraud Dept. but we can find no record of it on their website. Do not call either number, go directly to the local Post Office or Police Station. |

Concerned residents of Quintrell Downs will be pleased to know that once again the Fortdown Ltd Planning Application for 117 houses and industrial buildings on the fields on the SW corner of the roundabout was refused. It means that the character and appealing structure of the village will remain unaltered.
There is an Appeal process to be heard during the first week in December against the previous refusal decision on a very similar application by Fortdown Ltd made in January this year. Our ward councillor, John Fitter, and his neighbouring ward councillor Harry Heywood will be speaking again on the behalf the village. The outcome of this Appeal will be reported on this site but it is not likely to be forthcoming until the New Year. |

An update on this major planning issue, which requires the attention of all locals interested in preserving the current village scene and ensuring we are not sucked into the mass of Newquay without any consultation or consideration.
Please note there is an Informal Site Meeting on the land in question on November 12th at 10 am. All villagers interested are invited to attend and watch proceedings as Cornwall Council’s Strategic Planning Committee view the position accompanied by the Councils Planning Officials and the Directors of Fortdown Ltd. We villagers are not allowed to have an input to the proceedings, ask questions or harangue anybody. In the circumstances I feel our best behaviour will stand us in better stead than any altercation taking place. Certainly attend and bring banners as appropriate.
Please also note the actual planning application for the site will be heard before the Strategic Planning Committee in the old Restormel Council Chamber at St Austell a week later on Nov 19th at 10am. It is appreciated this is not the most friendly of time in the day for all workers, but we are keen that as many as possible get across so the committee can appreciate the depth of concern and worry, which the application has generated in the village.
Already many letters of objection have been received by the Council and we are reliant on our Councillors to articulate on the day to the Committee the concerns.
Thanks. Quintrell Downs Action Group.

You will probably be aware that Fortdown Ltd has appealed to the DoE against the refusal of their application that was heard last January (Jan 09) when we had a site meeting etc in the village. Now Councillor John Fitter advises there is a planning meeting at The Old Restormel Offices at St Austell on Wednesday 16th September 2009 commencing at 5PM (6 items before us).
The meeting will explain Cornwall Councils new approach to that appeal due in early September 2009. John Fitter would like to see as many as possible of our villagers to show up on the 16th September to demonstrate the depth of concern at the thought of nigh doubling the village. Lifts are available.
Please do address your attention to page 67 of The Cornish Guardian dated September the 9th where there is Notice of a planning application by Fortdown Ltd on the same land with adjustments to that within the application which is the subject of the appeal above.
There were many letters of objection sent in prior to January 09 and those wishing to again object should send their letters to:
Planning & Regeneration, Cornwall Council, Penwinnick Road, St Austell. PL25 5DR
